Phinney Industrial Roofing began working on the Rhodes State Office tower in 2019 for the Rhodes Tower Modernization Project. We were tasked with the removal and replacement of the existing 4th floor crushed granite ballasted roofing systems. Phinney Industrial removed all granite and stored for re-use, then removed the topping slab in its entirety. We then put down a new waterproofing system, followed by drain mats, root barriers, insulation and reinstalled the granite ballast. Phinney Industrial did all this while maintaining the building envelope so that operations could continue inside.

After the 4th floor roofs were done, Phinney Industrial was awarded the upper roof projects as part of another phase of the Modernization Project. We were tasked with removing the roof and concrete topping slab of both upper roofs on Rhodes, which are roughly 40 feet above the helipad roof. This is also the tallest roof in Columbus, Ohio at 629 feet above ground. We set up and utilized our hoisting equipment to do this project safely and efficiently. The owner was delivered an issue free warranted roof over very sensitive equipment.
