Copper Wall Panel System

PIR installed both the roofing and the exterior wall systems for the new art wing of the CMOA facility. The roof system installed is a cold process multi-ply built up roof system over a vapor barrier and roof insulation system. The integration of the roof vapor barrier with the exterior wall air barrier was a key component in coordinating the roof system to the exterior wall system.

The exterior wall system is a rain screen design. Utilizing a 1mm thick custom copper panel fabricated from pre-patina copper sheet and affixed to a custom aluminum extrusion frame. The wall panel is attached to the building frame via a subgirt system and exterior wall cavity insulation.

The installation was awarded the Copper Development Association’s “North American Copper in Architecture” Award.
